IFSPs, IEPs and procedural safeguards, translated for the family to keep.

The document the family signs has to be the document the family understood.

  • Manifestation determination notices
  • Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

Why human translation

Why this isn't a Google Translate job.

IDEA requires the procedural safeguards notice to be translated into the parent's native language unless clearly not feasible. Machine translation produces a document. It does not produce a document a parent can rely on, sign, or hold the district to.

The Center for Democracy and Technology's October 2025 brief found that 57% of special-education teachers reported using AI to help develop an IEP or 504 plan in 2024–25, and warned that uncritical use without rigorous review can violate IDEA's individualization and FERPA's privacy requirements. We use the tools where they help. We do not let them ship the document.
